Synopsis
A burglar alarm signal sends a police car to a London office building. The night watchman lets the police in and persuades them that all is well. But next morning it is found that the safe has been robbed and that the night watchman was an imposter. Detective Superintendent Tom Halliday and his new assistant, Detective Sergeant Ward, are put on the case. Halliday links the robbery with a series of similar crimes committed during the previous two years: in each case the rifled safe was of a particular make.
