Nicholas Nickleby

Synopsis

Nicholas Nickleby, his widowed mother and sister Kate, seek the help of a prosperous (but villainous) uncle, Ralph Nickleby. Ralph finds Nicholas work with the cruel and miserly Wackford Squeers, proprietor of a school for unwanted boys. Nicholas rebels, and after a fight with Squeers, leaves, taking one of the boys with him. Meanwhile, Ralph Nickleby has found Kate work with a dressmaker. He plans to use Kate to attract the business of Sir Mulberry Hawk. Hawk invites Mrs. Nickleby and Kate to his country home where he plans to press intentions upon Kate. Nicholas, forewarned, arrives in time to deal with Hawk.
