Synopsis

Fifty-year-old Anita is forced into early retirement when the cinema she works for is torn down to make room for a multiplex state-of-the-art cinema. Out of habit, she continues to go back to the cinema each day and unexpectedly falls in love with the ruggedly handsome bulldozer operator. A tender and bittersweet affair ensues. Anita and her new lover meet each day at the construction site where they share their new lease on life. Set against the habitual landscape of the director's beloved Barcelona, Anita takes a Chance is a witty examination of the highs and lows of middle-aged romance. A tender, entertaining and encouraging story of survival. With fourteen feature films, eleven produced by his own company, Ventura Pons has become one of the best-known Spanish Film directors. His most recent feature, Food of Love (2002) puts him in the ranks as one of Spain's most prolific film directors.
