Precious Life

One of the most moving films of the past several years...as much tension as a good thriller and more honest emotion than most Hollywood tear-jerkers...suffused with moral intelligence.
-Stephen Farber, The Hollywood Reporter
Remarkable...This is the middle east.
-Thomas L. Friedman, NEW YORK TIMES
So surprising, and so stirring, as to hold out symbolic hope for eventual peace between Israelis and Palestinians. As of now, the only thing I can imagine standing in the way of an Oscar for Precious Life"" is peace breaking out before the ballots go in the mail.""
-Joe Morgenstern, THE WALL STREET JOURNAL
A complex human and political drama.
-John Horn, LOS ANGELES TIMES
Remarquable... Ceci est le Moyen Orient!
-Thomas L. Friedman, NEW YORK TIMES

Synopsis

Born without an immune system, four-month-old Palestinian boy Mohammad Abu Mustaffa will die without a bone marrow transplant, a procedure that can only be done in an Israeli hospital. A desperate plea from his doctor to save Mohammad’s life leads Israeli journalist Shlomi Eldar to document this complex and emotional story. As Israeli and Palestinian doctors put aside their differences to protect the child, we are forced to confront the more personal ramifications of life in Gaza.
